Kez
We have had Kez for six months, since she was twelve weeks old.Her
first owner had her from the age of eight weeks, when he first got her he had a job
on a farm and loads of space for her to run around then sadly he lost his job and his
home, so he decided it was better to rehome her.
When I went to see Kez i fell in love with
her straightaway, when Igot her home to Bognor my children and my partner fell in love with
her as well.
Kez is a really clever dog and a 'clever
staffie' as far as we are concerned, this is because I am a diabetic and just recently I
have been going hypo alot and during the hypos when i have been unconcious Kez has been by
my side keeping me warm until i have regained conciousness, which makes her very special
to us and a very much loved member of our family.
We dont know what we would
do without her, we love her very much, she is the most loving dog i know and I wouldnt do
without her, she is the best thing I have ever bought.

SUZIE IS MY CLEVER STAFFIE, EVERYONE LOVES HER; AT

DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'LL DO WITHOUT HER WHEN THE TIME COMES LETS HOPE ITS A LONG WAY OFF.
Suzie now has her own website, take a look at one very happy, very much loved
little Staffie!!
Dixie
Barkers Dixie Darlin, CD, CDX is loved, owned and trained by Kay
Benoit.
Bred by Linda Barker, Dixie is sired by Killians Red Rebel out of
Barkers Trashy Woman (for those interested in breed history, she is R-Line bred top and
bottom). Born 4/11/98, Dixie was one of 4 pups (the only bitch) and she has gone on to
earn her obedience titles listed above and is well on her way to her UD title (and who
knows what beyond that), while one of her brothers as attained his confirmation title. The
other two males are much beloved pets, and spoiled as rotten as Dixie and Razz are.
Saffy
Saffy (Subaron Sapphire
Senorita) is owned and loved to bits by Terri & Paul Morrell, Saffy was bred by P
& S Harvey in 1997 and is out of Bowtmans Little Minx by Champion Valglo Lancer.
Saffy is a fantastic ambassador for the breed and is able to combine her show career
with her role as a PAT (Pets As Therapy) Dog, At Crufts 2001 Saffy won her class and then
went on to win the RCC bitch ticket and then proudly wore her PAT Dog coat druing her
official photographs and later whilst doing a lap of honour in the Crufts ring.
Saffy is also a Bronze and Silver Kennel Club Good Citizen.
This year at Crufts 2002, Saffy again proudly wore her coat whilst taking part in the
PAT Dog parades in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Ring in Hall 1.
Terri
Morrell also works hard throughout the year raising money for Staffordshire Bull Terrier
rescue by runing car boot sales, last year with her friend Zoe they raised over £500 for
Barbara Green and the year before for Norma Vann's SBT Rescue in Leicester. This
year they are again working raising money for Barbara Green who I understand has nearly
100 Staffords waiting for homes.
Terri works full time with only Friday afternoons off, which is when she visits a local
hospice with Saffy so Terri certainly seems to be a busy lady! but the joy a dog brings to
patients and residents of hospices, hospitals and old people homes make up for this ten
fold.
Terri has owned Staffords for 9 years initially
when her husband suggested they have a SBT dog, she says that she nearly freaked out with
horror at the thought - but things were never the same again and that it started a passion
that now plays the biggest part in her life and her husband now happily plays second
fiddle to the best breed in the world the Staffie.
Beavis
What follows is Beavis'
story he is owned and loved by Rupert and Andrea from an animal shelter on the very day he
was due for destruction. Rupert's story is one which I'm sure many Staffie owners
will acknowledge and smile at. Rupert is on the mend and his broken bones are
mending and Beavis has a lovely home where he is loved to bits and is a 'Champion of
Hearts'.
Rupert & Beavis' Story:-
The problem with digital camera's and e-mail (not to mention an obsession with your
dawg) is that it is sometimes too easy to send stuff off! I've been to your site and
it said to write in with comments and so on so I thought I'd tell you our story.
My
Partner and I have shared her cat until February of this year when at the age of 18, he
passed on. Henry had been ill for quite a while and when it happened, neither of us
realised what a hole he would leave in our lives. I have always had dogs as a kid and we
agreed that when the time was right we would get another pet, although this time from an
animal shelter.Having no real idea about what we wanted, we looked with an open mind at a
wide variety of poor old lost souls before I wandered into Teckles in Gloucestershire
during a particularly bad day and met Beavis (or 'Arvey as he once was)
He had just been brought in by the local Warden as he was due for destruction that day.
Clearly that didn't happen and following an introduction to my somewhat apprehensive
partner the following day, we agreed to adopt him. What a lot of Dog in such a small
package!
Here's the laugh.
Being "rough, tough and fearless" (yeah, I know) I was playing with him in
the back garden with his ball. We both ended up running for it along the path
and Beavis cut me off by running through my legs! The resulting fall dislocated my
ankle, breaking it in 3 places and my right leg in a further 2. Beavis was instantly down
by my side, obviously worried yet protecting me from further harm (much to the
delight of the Ambulance Crew who he subsequently licked to death)
I had to stay in for a while as I needed
reconstructive surgery and some sub-frame welding, not to mention a dozen screws and
a couple of tin plates!
However, the greeting I got when I arrived home made my troubles and pain disappear
completely.I'm still in plaster and am likely to be so for another month or so but as I
have an office at home I can still do stuff from the house. Obviously Beavis likes to
help too!
Finally, I have a minor association with a premiership football team who were kind
enough to donate a squad-signed shirt for me to auction on behald of Teckles for their
annual fund raiser. Football may not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly I won't be
playing it again, but when the Double-winning champions Arsenal F.C. donate a prize like
that, it does raise a nice few quid for such a worthwhile cause.
Beavis
isn't quite the full staffy from a CC perspective so I doubt he'll ever win a prize or
trophy. Beast of Bread isn't really on our agenda anyway. However, if there is
an award out there for "mans real best friend" - tell them not to forget
the "a" when they engrave "Beavis" on the trophy.

Simba, Mo &
Molly
Simba, Mo & Molly are loved to bits by Susan Scott from Perth,
Austrailia. All of Susan's dogs are deserving of their place on Clever Staffords,
The dogs from Susan's write up below certainly seem to enjoy life and are super
ambassadors of the breed.
"My first dog is Simba, an 8 year old desexed bitch who was my
introduction to the Stafford world and has taught me a great deal. Simba is currently
trialling in UD in Perth, Western Australia and is also Delta PetPartner (Pet Therapy)
dog. Simba is trained using positive reinforcement, in particular 'clicker training'.
My second dog is Bo, an 8 year old entire male, whom I took out of a kennel
situation at the age of 11mths. He is a true gentleman and excels at Pet Therapy work. He
is a wonderful dog to introduce to the public and for school talks on dogs. He is also the
sire of our newest member Molly.
Now for Molly, well what can I say, she
is the light of my life. Molly is my first 100% clicker trained dog and she excels at
obedience and will be entering her first sanctioned trial at the end of 2002. Molly has
also been shown recently and done extremely well. I have every confidence that Molly will
become the first Champion/Obedience Champion Stafford in Australia. Molly is also a
Delta PetPartner accredited dog".

Pugsley
Pugsley is owned and loved to bits by Vicky Stowell and
family, his story shows the remarkable work Vicky and her husband have put into Pugsley
after a bad start in life, culminating in him being unwanted and up for adoption at the
Blue Cross - until he met his new forever mum & dad, the rest of his story is in
Vickys words:
I don't know if Pugsley would come under the heading of a
clever Stafford, but we think he is coming along really well compared to the dog he was
when we first acquired him in April 2000 aged 3. Pugsley is the first dog my
husband or I have ever owned and when we first got him, many people were quick to tell us
what a mistake we had made taking on an unsocialised rescue staffy. He came from the Blue
Cross Rescue centre and according to his history he had never been trained, walked,
socialised or even played with.
In May last year we enrolled in the Kennel
Club Good Citizen Scheme and he has now surprised everyone by passing his GOLD. Due to his
history, Pusley has never been very good with other dogs, but to be able to pass the KCGC
tests we had to work in very close proximity to other dogs.We discovered that as long as
his 'personal space' (about a 3 foot circumference) was respected then we got along just
fine.
We are currently on the waiting list for the beginners agility course
(although he may have to lose a little weight first) where we hope he will do really well.
I am also looking into the possibility of using him as a PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog as he
really loves his fuss and attention!
Although many facts about his past are uncertain, the one thing we do
know is that he is a very loving animal and has even taken visits from a friends rapidly
growing baby in his stride!!

Jackie
Jackie is owned, adored and trained by Lori Lapointe, the following is
Jackie's story:
CH Knockout At Lalynn CD
is truly a wonder. We fondly call her Jackie. Jackie achieved her CD
title, and in just two days with scores of 193, 193.5, and 194 out of a possible total of
200!!
We are very proud of her achievement and hard work. She sure loves to
work, and has a lot of fun doing it! Maybe next year a CDX? The most amazing thing about
Jackies score, is she only had 3 to 3.5 weeks of training!!
She loves to
work, and just loves the attention that she gets at the shows. We also have
Jackiesdaughter, and she is just the same in temperament and willing to work and please.
This is sure a great breed, with so many possibilities and so muchlove to give and
share:)) I am proud to live with a staffie!
